BOOK BLURB

Canadian vigilante, Laura Amour takes her crusade against child exportation to France to take on an international human trafficking organization. What she exposes goes far beyond anything she has ever expected to deal with. Against her is a powerful statesman with vast resources and one of the world's most active anti-terrorist police forces. She must partner up with a rogue anti-terrorist police officer and a teen prostitute or thousands might die.

INTRODUCTION

Laura Amour a fierce and resolute vigilante, is on the mission to stop  the ‘deadly harvest’ that is taking place in France. The challenges are too many, and much is at stake, but her vision won’t let her stop. Once she has committed to something, Laura will never back out. And that is an aspect of her that I admire.

ONE SENTENCE SUMMARY

Mission is huge, opposition is terrifying, but determination is never ending.

Plunging into ‘Deadly Harvest’, I was expecting a lot, since this is the second Laura Amour thriller, the first being 'In Defense of Innocence'. Laura has quickly turned into one of my favorite characters, and her determination amazes me. The book, as a whole, is a very captivating read, and much intriguing. Reading David Wickenden’s other books, he has written on a varied theme scheme, but each one is exceptional. Same is the case with ‘Deadly Harvest’.

THE BARE BONES

Laura has taken her ‘crusade’ to France, now, and is shocked to find the horrid things happening to the innocent kids there. She is all set to stop them, but the stacks against her are high. Rachelle, an anti-terrorist police officer, teams up with her, but will the duo remain intact till the very end?

THE CHARCTERS

The one word that describes Laura perfectly, is ‘steadfast’. It sums her up beautifully. She is skilled in her work, each move a very calculated one, sparing no mistakes. She is talented, and ready to take up challenges, no matter the circumstances, or the consequences. “Alone, by herself, she built the kingdom that she wanted.” Gabrielle, a 15-year-old bright child, with a tortured past, puts her trust in Laura, and due to her quick learning, is helpful in the mission. But she’s quickly becoming deeply attached to the vigilante, and vice-versa. This may not be too good, though.

Rachelle, an anti-terrorist police officer, is bent on helping Laura in her mission, as her aims are almost the same. They quickly become fast friends, and are ready to back up each other. THE SETTING 'Deadly Harvest’ is set in France. The situations surrounding the story are described remarkably, and I was almost transported to the setting of the novel! The words make great justice to the country.

MY FAVOURITE LINE

"She would gladly come back and do it all over again until they thought twice about testing her resolve."

-Laura Amour

5/5 Stars (Is it possible to give more than that? If so, this book deserves all them!)

Great if you enjoy: complex read with twists and turns.

Not great if you’re looking for: quick reads, simple mysteries, non-sensitive topics.
