A letter to Mahatma Gandhi
Dear Bapu,
It's been decades you
left everyone in tears and sadly I will never be able to meet you. But for now,
I am much glad to get a chance to speak my heart out to you through my letter.
As we celebrate your 151st birth anniversary, I imagine, just imagine, what if that original ‘desh bhakt’ Nathuram Godse had not pumped three bullets into you at point-blank range on that cold January 30 evening in 1948. That dark evening you were not on a joy walk; you were on your way to the prayer meeting.
I know wherever you are you take pride to have happily served your motherland as a great patriot. In fact there might be a very less number of people who doesn't know about you and the revolution you brought to our entire country as well as to humankind.
You had been, you are and you will remain an inspiration for eternity. Mahatma your life is a perfect example for how an ideal soul actually is. Your dignified works be it nonviolence, the satyagraha or the revolts against caste inequalities and social evils, each and every of them are a massive part of protests for India's independence. And these are labelled as the prestigious moments of Indian history.
Your principles are still remembered, and we aim to follow them. I haven’t no idea whether you know the latest news or not, so let me tell you. The world is facing a huge crisis, probably one which was not seen in years. The pandemic, causea by the Coronavirus, has affected the population of many countries around the globe. The virus spreads through human contact. Which is why we are to maintain social distancing and several countries, including India, have gone into lockdown to break the chain of infection. Today, India is united by living divided, and is fighting the crisis bravely. We are aiming to follow your principles of swadeshi, swachhata and Sarvodaya. Your values are helping us strengthen ourselves during the dreadful plight.
As you quoted "Be the change that you wish to see in the world."
This sentence of yours is a precious gem itself as it clearly depicts an ideology of positive change. Furthermore modern India is massively following your footsteps for development. As you symbolized a value which is now becoming a reason for betterment of our multicultural India. But the world still needs to understand your preaching for a suitable form of humanity.
Youre memories have never left us. Most noteworthy, Indians address you as the 'Father of the Nation'.
'Mahatma Gandhi' this name will certainly remain being immortal in the hearts of people of all generations.
So, on your 151st birth anniversary, I want to thank you on behalf of India. I felt a strong need to tell all of this to you. You were far more than just a distinguished leader of India. Any amount of praise, any words of gratitude are smaller for contributions you did for all of us. And this is where I leave you: The world would have been much better with your existence, but nevertheless, your wisdom is still powerful, and celebrated and we will remember you as long as we are.
I pay
hearty tribute to you. Bapu, you will never be forgotten.
With respect,
Manasi
