United by Living Divided

Sir Bertolt Brecht, a German theatre practitioner, playwright, and poet ha rightly said, "Forward without forgetting ,Till the concrete question is hurled, When starving or when eating, whose tomorrow is tomorrow and whose world is the world?"

We all know the power of unity. We have learned the story from our childhood, where an old man was worried about his sons who were always quarreling among themselves. In order to show them a lesson he asked them to break a bundle of sticks tied together. Obviously none of them could. And when the bundle was untied they were ready to break each stick easily enough.

Not only in the human world but also in the physical world we can see the power of unity. For example, a  metal like copper, that can be twisted and another metal weaker than copper, when we combine then together we get bronze that is stronger then the two weaker metals that was combined along to create bronze.

You don't need to be a genius to know that we are stronger together. When we are all one ,who can stand a chance against us? But if you believe that when we come together, only then we are united, then this year has proved you wrong, my friend.

Solidarity's official definition, is the unity or agreement of feeling or action. But I believe that it is not just a word. It's a feeling that bonds us together.

To be one, all we need is the same spirit and same mindset. No matter the distance, no matter the religion or caste.

We all have heard of the famous saying right from our childhood. 'United we stand, divided we fall.' But the COVID-19 urges us to change the words. 'United we fall, divided we stand.' And isn't it quits true? One step in the crowd, and be ready to go in a shroud.

Therefore, it is very important to stay in the safety of our house. And which better words could describe it than the words of Sir William Bennet? 'Home is the shelter of storms- all storms.' The storm outside has taken the form of the corona pandemic and home, only home will keep us safe.

I won't say that we need unity to face this situation. What we need is the feeling of solidarity. This is the new word for us, the covid fighters.

Therefore, I confidently say, that we are stronger together but the definition of our 'together' is through solidarity and the safety of our home.

So this time, let us come together by staying apart. Let us all be 'solidariates'- the ones who have a feeling of solidarity. Let us all be fighters and wash off this corona.

Last, but not the least, I would like to end with a few words of mine..

We may be in the East, we may be in the West.

But our spirit will always be for the Best..

We may in the North, we may be in the South,

But we will follow everything to keep humanity alive, no doubt.

If you stay home, if you fill each minute with writing, dancing, music and reading,

Yours is the Earth and everything in it...
